Our office can provide a full scope of dental surgical services, Dr. Kushner provides all your surgical needs as well as providing implant placement. He has extensive knowledge and experience with many implant options.
Some of the most common surgical procedures provided in our office are extractions, removal of wisdom teeth, dental implants, bone grafting, and apicoectomy.
Dental implants are a great way to replace missing teeth and provide a fixed solution rather than having a removable partial or complete denture. Implants provide excellent support and stability for dental replacement. Dental implants are anchors that act as tooth root substitute, providing you with many tooth replacement options. In some cases, implants may be restored immediately after they are placed and a temporary restoration can be placed allowing immediate function.
If, like many others, you feel implant dentistry is the choice for you, we ask that you undergo a dental/radiographic examination and health history. During your consultation visit, we will address your specific needs and considerations. Your questions and concerns are important to us and our team will work with you very closely to help make your procedure a success.
Bone grafting is sometimes necessary to supplement the bone volume present, allowing implants to be anchored firmly. The graft replaces missing bone, promoting your body to regenerate new bone. This new bone growth strengthens the grafted area by forming a bridge between your existing bone and the grafted material. Over time your own newly formed bone will replace much of the grafted material. This gives us the opportunity to place implants of proper length and width, and it also gives us a chance to more effectively restore esthetic appearance and functionality.
When upper teeth are removed, there is often just a thin wall of bone separating the maxillary sinus and the mouth. Dental implants need bone to hold them in place. When the sinus wall is very thin, it is not possible to place dental implants in this bone. There is a solution called a sinus graft or sinus lift procedure. In this situation, donor bone is inserted between the maxillary bone and the sinus floor. After healing, dental implants can be inserted. The sinus graft makes it possible for many patients to have dental implants when years ago there was no other option other than wearing dentures.
An apicoectomy, also called root end resection, is a procedure intended to remove infection from the root tip and the surrounding tissue. It is indicated when an infection continues after root canal therapy. The unhealthy tissue is removed along with the end of the root tip. A root-end filling is placed to prevent re-infection of the root. The bone naturally heals around the root.
Dr. Kushner is the best!! Has given me a reason to smile and show off my gorgeous teeth! Also, he helped me get my gums in shape too. His wonderful chairside manner and vivacious personality guarantee that the surgery experience will as pleasant as can be considering it’s oral surgery. Of course, I must mention his assistant Irina, also very caring and most professional. 5 stars!!
I can not say enough positive things about Dr. Kushner and his staff!!! I had to have two wisdom teeth removed, one which was infected and needed to be out a sap. I was able to get an appointment right away and had them removed a few days later. I was a little scared about having them out and Dr. Kushner told me not to worry and that I wouldn’t feel a thing. I had no pain during the surgery at all and had a fast recovery. I highly recommend Dr. Kushner to anyone that needs an oral surgeon!!!! His assistant and secretary were also wonderful and made me feel comfortable .
